Day 1 of my Overland Tour with Nomad Adventures. We enjoyed some spectacular sights in a most beautiful region of SA -Mpumalanga. It was the start of what was to be an incredible 4 days...
Buddy the Truck. It was the ULTIMATE camping vehicle for our 'overland' Nomad journey. Thanks to Sean, Thabani and Rheiner for a fabulous 4 days.
Botshabelo Cultural Center
Traditional Ndebele hut
Colorful Ndebele buildings.
Thabani tells us about some of the history of this culture.
Ndebele women in traditional dress.
Our first Nomad lunch demonstrating how versatile Buddy really is! (:
Townships along the highway.
Roadtrip afternoons
Coal mining is a major industry.
Evelyn and Jay in our Sabie Backpackers Lodge accommodations. Sabie was a really cool little town!!
I selected the bunk farthest away from the potential 'snorers' of the group.
Roadtrip view as we drove from Sabie to the Bryde River Canyon. Absolutely gorgeous areas in Mpumalanga!!!
More roadtrip scenery.
Cross roads
Bourke's Luck Potholes... a stop I'd been waiting to make for over a year!
Absolutely breathtaking little area.
Treue River rocky waterfall as it runs down to meet the Blyde River.
'Potholes' formed by dynamiting for gold, is what caused the 2 rivers here to meet (Treue and Blyde).
The Blyde River continues as one as the starting of the Canyon.
A view back on the Blyde River.
Cultural entertainment was fantastic and enjoyed with a cool drink after our mini-hike.
The Three Rondevals (or Three Sisters) a spectacular site at the end of the canyon.
Bryde River Canyon is the 3rd largest in the world.
A self portrait of sorts as I sat on the canyon edge.... taking it all in.
Curio stands at each stop, of course! I couldn't figure out how I'd get that giraffe home...
A quick view from God's Window. We hiked around here for an hour or so - stunning vistas!!
Roadtrip pic's on our way to Kruger - our next stop on the journey!
Matchsticks
